Zimbabwe's internationally renowned Victoria Falls constitute one of the mist spectacular natural wonders of the world. The mighty Zambezi River plunges into a chasm 1700 meters wide in a series of cataracts with bellowing spray which can be seen 70km away.
This is the world's largest sheet of falling water and the local name "Mosi-oa-Tunya" means the "Smoke that Thunders". Viewing points opposite the cataracts are reached by paths running through rain forest which thrive on the spray thrown up throughout the year.

Thorntree Lodge is situated on the Zambian bank of the Zambezi River, 15 kilometres upstream from the Victoria Falls. It boasts a central lounge / dining area with an open sundeck overlooking the Zambezi River. There is also a swimming pool with a water level bar, deck and thatched Lapa.
With just eighteen beds, Thorntree Lodge offers its guests a very unique and personal African experience. Each lodge has been constructed using natural materials, with indigenous woods and thatching providing cooling shade and the unmistakable feel of a true Safari Camp. Thorntree's riverside location and its unique position within the national park allows for a wide choice of activities, including sunset cruises, game drives, elephant back rides, canoeing, cultural visits, fishing (rods and tackle not provided) and of course visits to the falls themselves. The national park is a sanctuary for white rhino as well as a haven for many other species including giraffe, sable, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo and a wide variety of birds.
Comfortable pontoon boats take guests out onto the Zambezi river where you can enjoy and appreciate the unspoiled beauty of this lovely stretch of river, feel its peace and serenity while you enjoy a drink, cast a line or raise your binoculars to the passing array of animals.
The adventure lovers will also be able to experience white water rafting, river boarding, bungi jumping, or flights over the Falls by helicopter, fixed-winged aircraft or micro-light.
There are a variety of ways to access Thorntree. Most visitors choose to fly into either Livingstone or Victoria Falls International Airport where they are met and transferred by road to the lodge. Those wishing to drive will find the access by road excellent.
