Limpopo
(Northern Province)

A warm Welcome to
Limpopo the land of myths, legends,
beautiful scenery and landscape, as well as
majestic Baobab trees.
Limpopo is the
northernmost province of our beautiful land of South Africa.
Cultural Experiences
The Great North is also known for its wealth of
historical and cultural haunts.
The Pedi, a great nation of African descent, formed their homeland centuries ago
in the platinum-rich east.
The statue of the Long Tom cannon that can be viewed
in Haenertsberg is a silent symbol to the battles fought on and for this land,
in this case the Anglo-Boer War and the heroes and stories that came out of it.
Their culture has brought a rich foreign dimension
to the African plains already housing a fascinating mix of African cultures from
as far afield as Central Africa.
Fishing
Hunting usually conjures up images of rhino, elephant,
buffalo and big antelope.
Fishing - is another popular attraction
among locals and tourists alike. Fishing is, in fact, a Limpopo institution.
From the Limpopo River, meandering lazily along the province's northern border,
to the many brisk clear streams found throughout its expanse, a proud fishing
tradition. Bream, tilapia, barbel, yellow-fish and trigger-fish are among the
species that can be lured to the hooks of keen anglers.
Leisure Tourism
Limpopo isis untamed Africa at its finest - the land of wide
open bushveld, big skies and the ever-present thorn tree. From game-viewing in
its numerous nature reserves to discovering more about prehistoric human
habitation, Limpopo has something for everyone.
Less extreme outdoor activities such as birding, game drives, game walks,
fishing, horse-riding, horse safaris, canoeing/kayaking, river cruises and
team-building exercises are also offered throughout the province.
The Kruger National Park offers selected safaris, including a Rhino Walking
Safari, each one offering a potentially new experience.
Birding
If wild birds are your passion, flock to Limpopo - the bird-watcher's haven!
In excess of 400 species have been identified in the Mapungubwe area of the
Limpopo Valley.
Game Drives
Game drives are usually undertaken in 4x4 vehicles and can be either self-drive
or guided. It stands to reason that guests have more to learn from a guided game
drive and this also the safer alternative given the unpredictability of wild
animals. Night drives can be particularly rewarding in terms of game-viewing as
many animals are most active then.
Horse Safaris
A horseback safari offers an excellent opportunity to explore Limpopo. The
Soutpansberg enables riders to discover this magnificent mountain on horseback
Riding in the African bush is an ever-changing and stimulating experience: from
quiet walking through thick bush on the lookout for birds and game, to long
trots and canters.
Hot-Air Ballooning
Experience the wonder of a lighter-than-air flight over the Lowveld game areas
adjoining the Kruger National Park and experience ballooning at its best.
Wellness Gataways
A stay in Limpopo is about far more than just accommodation - it is about
reviving the human spirit!
History
Southern Africa is often referred to as the Cradle of
Humankind, and archeaological sites such as Sterkfontein and Makapans Caves add
significant credence to this theory.
