Knysna Township Tours :

Nelson R Mandela
(in traditional dress)

"The long walk freedom"
The immortal words of Nelson Mandela, was a central theme in the Mass Democratic Movement's campaigns, from the early days through to the late 1980s. To fully understand the present day conditions in South Africa you have to understand the past injustices, the legacy of the struggle and the promise of reconstruction and development initiatives under way at present.
Freedom has not come easy.
This tour offers a wealth of insight into South Africa's history, educational, political, social, tribal and ethnic.
Eco Afrika Tours is happy to announce its own unique Black Township Tour. Our community Guide will take you into the heart of this truly unique peaceful African Township. We walk down the little dust roads and meet the people face to face.

Our guide Cynthia Gobeni is the first black female guide of her generation to lead you into her lifestyle and the Ama Xhosa she represents.

Cynthia Gobeni - Eco Afrika Tours Township Guide
You have a chance to talk to the people, gather information, see first hand if what you hear about South Africa is true or not. See the culture, traditions, dress, religion, beliefs and history of many cultures but the Xhosa in particular. Eco Afrika Tours enjoys the freedom of the Knysna Township.

We deal in all cultures but we offer an exhilarating insight into the world of the XHOSA people. Their life style, customs, beliefs, religion, traditions, educational & upliftment program, traditional dance, choirs and Sangoma (magic man/witchdoctor); school; kindergarden. We interact with the town inhabitants, meet them on the street where they live, visiting a Shebeen (African bar), Crèche, School, private house hold and more.

This is an experience that will chance your life and the way you think. It will chance your perspective on South Africa and its peoples, it will bring hope and support to a people in need.
There is also a chance for anybody who wants to actively participate in helping and uplifting the poor to link up with the particular community forum representatives.
Eco Afrika Tours is actively engaged in Township upliftment, giving back to the community, putting them in touch with the whole wide world, our contribution in the upliftment of the poor and underprivileged.
