Day 1 -
Pick up Cape Town /we head west on the N1 out of Cape Town via the Huguenot Tunnel past Worcester to Touws River 250km from Cape Town, Matjiesfontein.
Started as a halfway house to the Kimberley Diamond fields it was a hide away for Churchill, Olive Schreiner and Cecil Rhodes. Maybe look into the fascinating Marie Rawdon museum, Olive Schreiner House, Railway Museum.

Day 2
Continue on via Lainsburg, Beaufort West, onto the R61 through the valley of Desolation to Aberdeen, and to the 200 year old Graaf Reinett in the Hinterland on eternal planes of the Gamdeboo.
Scientists describe it as a vast system of sediments 150 million years old. Dinosaurs roamed the area leaving behind a unequalled palaentological heritage rich in fossils.
There are 200 monuments in town, Drosdy, Arthur Murray Church, Rienet House, Valley of Desolation.

Day 3
Today Nieu Bethesda, Hellen Martins Owl House.
48km out is 3rd impact crater in SA the 640m Kalkkop Meteor Crater, guide walk to fossils site.

Day 4
After breakfast we visit the farm Cranmere of Palmer family, museum of middle Stone Age implements.
Depart for Cradock via Pearston and the 180km Swaershoek Pass.

Day 5 -
Excursion to San etchings.
On via Tarkastad, in Frontier Country in the Eastern Cape to Queenstown, to135km to Dordrecht on the famous Rock Art Route.

Day 6
After breakfast depart south via Elliot, Engobo to Umata in the Transkei, capital of this rural heartland the Xhosa Nation,
a region where the 21st Century and yesterday have just met.
Just outside Umtata we stop at a Xhosa family that we know and visit inside their traditional hut and deliver mail, some presents and a soccer ball we promised on our last visit. On and via Kokstad, Bizana, and Flagstaff to Port Edward in Kwa Zulu Natal.

Day 7:
Today we continue up the Sugar Coast to Durban.
Being a Crime ridden town we take great care where we go but there is a lot to see here.

Day 8 :
We travel up the East Coast Eshowe, to Shakaland with traditional Zulu music, dance & culture in the valley of 1000 hills.

Today via Mkusi through the Golela border post into the Kingdom of Swaziland with its arts & craft markets.
We sleep over just outside Mbabane.
