The indigenous forests of Knysna has always captured the imagination of people all over the world with tales of the Knysna Elephants,
Thomas Bain famous English bridge and road builder and the 1877 Millwood Gold Rush and the many tales captured by South African Novelist Daleen Mathee with Fielas Child and the famous Circles in the Forest.
We retrace the steps of Elephants on the well known Woodcutter hike of round 2,5 km through the dense indigenous forest with Knysna Loerie birds
We spend a moment at the Big Tree the (PondoCarpus Falactus) Knysna Yellowwood round 800 years old.
We visit the site of the Gold Strike that ended abruptly leaving the Bendigo mine shaft and abandoned mine machinery and the last remaining building the Mother Holy tearoom & museum.
Then we head for Jubilee Creek where we enjoy a carefully prepared picnic lunch with your own picnic basket and blanket on the velvet green grass next to the babbling black and gold creek.
There are Elephant and Leopard in the forest but they are rarely seen by day.
