2. Tsitsikamma Magic
The Garden Route has a Mediterranean Maritime climate, with moderately hot summers, and mild to chilly winters. It is one of the richest rainfall areas, most of which occurs in the winter months, brought by the humid sea-winds from the Indian Ocean. Stretching for 80 km along the scenic Southern Cape coast we travel from Knysna to the Tsitsikamma National Park, proclaimed in 1964 as the first marine national park on the African continent.
It protects a wonderland of inter-tidal life, reef and deep-sea fish. Dolphins frolic in the breakers, surfing and playing for the sheer joy of life, and the gentle giant of the ocean, the southern right whale visits here, coming inshore to breed.
